New Restaurant: Mughlai Darbar

I was pleasantly surprised to find a brand new Hyderbadi cuisine restaurant nearby that serves Halal food. Mughlai Darbar recently opened and it’s an Indian restaurant offering classic Hyderbadi dishes as well as Indo-Chinese specialty dishes. Over the weekend, my family and I visited the extensive buffet offered at $13.99 for adults and $7.99 for kids.

The buffet is huge!! There’s lots to choose from, and everything is clearly labeled. Now if you’re not accustomed to eating spicy indian food, then perhaps the buffet isn’t the best way to go, because you can’t control the level of the spice. Personally, I thought the food was mildly spicy, but then again, that’s what makes it taste so great!

*When ordering off the menu, you can adjust the spice level to your liking.

There were four different types of rice, goat and chicken curries, vegetable curries, two types of paneer, as well as Asian inspired specialties like General Tso’s chicken, chili paneer and egg fried rice. They had South Indian specialties like Dal, Sambar and of course the famous Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, which is definitely worth trying.

My favorite dishes were the Veg pakoras, Fried Baby Corn & Fried Cauliflower dishes, which were prepared like General Tso. I couldn’t get enough of the cauliflower, it was super flavorful. I also really liked the butter chicken, dum biryani, fried rice and paneer methi. And my children especially loved the Mango lassi, fresh naan and yogurt raita.

We really enjoyed our experience at Mughlai Darbar, and I’ll definitely be visiting again with my parents-in-law who are from Hyderabad, India. The buffet is great because you can taste several of their specialty dishes for an amazing price, and it’s all-you-can-eat! The service and atmosphere are friendly, clean and quite suitable for taking your family. And they also offer private party space and catering.

If you’re ever in the Central New Jersey area, or you’re looking for a place to eat this weekend, I would definitely recommend you to try out this place! I’m always trying to find clean and family-friendly [halal] restaurants, and I’m so glad that we found it. Please do mention that you read this review on Sweet Dreamer!

Currently they’re offering a free appetizer with any dinner order, you just have to text MUGHLAI to 31996.

The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.

*Disclosure: I was offered a complimentary buffet meal in exchange for this review. All of the opinions are completely mine, I would not recommend anything unless I truly liked it.
