For our honeymoon, we escaped to a beautiful island in Dominican Republic called Samana. Being a new couple, we were looking for something island but at the same time affordable. After doing some research, I found a gorgeous adults-only All-inclusive resort, part of the Bahia Principe chains. Luxury Bahia Principe Samana, DR.
We stayed in an adults-only, all-inclusive resort for seven days and it was so amazing. The resort itself was set on its own island, and only members of the resort were on it. Our secluded villa had a gorgeous private balcony with its own hot tub. It was a quiet, relaxing resort, just what we needed after all of the traveling and chaos of the wedding.
The island was surrounded by pristine beaches, and most of the days we just spent roaming around the resort and discovering its beauty. All our meals and snacks were included, so whenever we were hungry we would just order room-service or walk down to the main building where the dining room was. Each night there was a different themed buffet, with several fresh seafood and vegetarian items. But the best part was definitely the fresh smoothies and cocktails (non-alcoholic, of course) We would have daiquiris and pina coladas, and fresh fruit. And the dessert selection was so wide and colorful, and so yummy! There were also three separate restaurants, which we were welcome to eat at with reservations. Our favorite was this Italian restaurant called Portofino, so we made reservations for 3 nights. And at the end of our meal, we never had a check to pay!
Our honeymoon was all about relaxation. We spent most of our time just laying by the beach or pools, took advantage of the spa, and took in the beauty of the island. There were activities that we could have done like water sports and hiking, but we were just so tired from the previous week, that all we wanted to was..nothing! And I have absolutely no regrets, it really was the best time!
